Disney Files Permit for Skyliner Station Amid Refurbishment Speculation
A new permit has been filed for the Disney Skyliner station at Hollywood Studios, sparking speculation about possible refurbishment or maintenance work.
The filing, which was submitted on August 28, 2026, grants Buena Vista Construction Company permission to 'provide labor, material, and/or electrical for construction' at the station. However, the permit does not specify what the work involves or when it will take place.
Disney has scheduled a refurbishment of the Skyliner from January 24-30, 2027, but it's unclear whether this permit is related to that project or something else entirely.
If work begins before the scheduled closure, guests may notice temporary walls, altered queue paths, or reduced loading capacity at the station. A full station closure would be more disruptive, affecting guests heading to Caribbean Beach, Pop Century, Art of Animation, and Riviera resorts who rely on the Skyliner for transportation.
