Disney Files Permit for Spaceship Earth Makeover
Walt Disney World Resort has filed construction permits for Spaceship Earth at EPCOT ahead of its major reimagining. The project was first announced at D23 Expo in 2022, with plans to celebrate human connection and innovation.
The original plan was to close the attraction in May 2020 as part of a larger overhaul, but it was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, Imagineers are working on 'signage' for the geodesic sphere, which is likely to be a noticeable change for EPCOT guests.
Jon Richards Company has been hired for this project and is known for its work on themed elements at Disney parks worldwide. Walt Disney World Resort's involvement suggests that the new signage will play a significant role in the reimagining of Spaceship Earth.
