Disney Franchises Gear Up for Trilogy Status

At Disney's D23 Entertainment Showcase, Pixar confirmed their second-ever franchise to have three movies: Incredibles. The third installment of the trilogy will be released on June 16, 2028, and marks a shift in strategy for both Disney and Pixar.

The trend of sticking with a single movie per franchise has been broken, as several beloved stories are set to become trilogies. This includes Moana, Zootopia, Inside Out, Monsters Inc., Princess Diaries, Hocus Pocus, National Treasure, Maleficent, and Black Panther.

Each trilogy's future is not guaranteed, but plans for sequels have been announced or confirmed. Disney's successes over the past few decades are paving the way for a new era of expansion into theatrical sequels.
