Disney Gives First Glimpse into Abu Dhabi Theme Park Resort
Disney is finally giving fans an early look at its next theme park resort in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), through a documentary called Worldbuilders. The project has been shrouded in mystery since it was first announced, with Disney keeping tight-lipped about its plans despite its high-profile status.
The documentary will provide an inside look at the design process behind the Abu Dhabi park, which is being developed by Imagineering, the Disney division responsible for designing theme parks. Fans were expecting to hear more about the project during the recent D23 presentation, but instead, it was given little attention.
Disney's chairman of its theme park division, Thomas Mazloum, mentioned that development of 'an entirely new theme park resort in Abu Dhabi' is underway, but no further details emerged. The lack of information has sparked interest and speculation among fans and industry experts alike.
The Abu Dhabi park will be operated by Miral, a government-backed company that has become the world's leading theme park operator alongside Disney and Universal. Miral has built a portfolio of world-class parks on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, including Warner Bros. World, SeaWorld, and Ferrari World.
