Disney Guest Saves Toddler from High-Speed Water Slide Collision
A frightening collision between a Disney guest and a toddler was narrowly avoided at Walt Disney World's Polynesian Village Resort due to the quick reflexes of another parkgoer.
The incident occurred on the resort's Lava Pool, where a high-speed volcano slide features a 142-foot-long water chute built into a massive artificial volcano structure.
A child had wandered away from the designated splash pad for toddlers and young children at Kiki Tiki's, entered the main pool area, and climbed up the exit of the volcano slide, putting himself directly in harm's way.
The guest descending the feature slide spotted the unsupervised child and executed a split-second rescue by scooping him into his arms mid-slide. The two rode out the remaining curve of the slide together before landing safely in the splashdown basin.
