Disney Intern Dies After Being Struck by Lightning in Florida

A 20-year-old man who was part of the Disney College Program at Walt Disney World has died after being struck by lightning in Osceola County, Florida.

Matthew Jenkins had just moved to the area and was excited for his new opportunity. According to his friend Blake Jahn, Jenkins was a 'good kid' and a 'great son, brother, boyfriend,' who cared deeply for everyone around him.

Jenkins' mother said in a statement that he was kind and funny, and Jahn described him as a 'great best friend' who would be 'loved' by the Disney community. The company responded with a statement saying Jenkins will 'always be remembered as part of our Disney community.'

Jenkins' loved ones have been overwhelmed by the support from across the country.
