Disney Kicks Off World Princess Week with Hand-Built Short Film
The Walt Disney Company has kicked off its annual World Princess Week celebrations with a short film directed by Alex Prager, titled 'Once a Princess, Always a Princess'. The film follows two girls who befriend each other from neighboring apartments and engage in imaginative play, riding magic carpets and diving underwater. The story is set in a world built entirely by hand, using techniques such as bigature castles, custom puppets, and hand-painted matte backdrops.
The short film was created with Fallon and Publicis Production, and features a 56-piece live orchestra performing the score. Alex Prager, who directed the film, drew inspiration from her own childhood love of Disney Princesses and their ability to foster connections and imagination in children.
Disney Princess Week has become a major event for the company, with a range of activities and releases planned across various platforms. This year's celebrations include a concert featuring Disney Princess talent, new episodes of 'Sofia the First: Royal Magic', and an animated story titled 'LEGO Disney Princess: Magical Mayhem'. Additionally, Disney is partnering with Make-A-Wish to grant Disney Princess-themed wishes around the world.
