Disney Legends Eric Goldberg Honored for Life's Work in Animation
At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa, 13 individuals were honored as Disney Legends. Eric Goldberg, recognized in the Animation category, reflected on his contributions to the company and what it means to be named a Legend. He cited his love for classic Disney films, including Dumbo and Sleeping Beauty, as inspiration for his career.
Goldberg also credited Disney Legends Ward Kimball and Freddie Moore with shaping his path in animation. As the director of Pocahontas and several segments for Fantasia/2000, he emphasized that directing is a natural extension of his work as a supervising animator.
Goldberg expressed the importance of passing on knowledge to future generations, saying 'we must pass on what we know to future generations. We were all lucky enough to learn from masters of the craft, and we are impelled to keep this medium alive.'
