Disney Locks in 2027 Movie Slate with Eight Big Releases
Disney has finalized its 2027 theatrical slate, featuring eight big movies from various studios. The lineup includes original stories and franchises acquired over the years. With Disney's recent acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019, this year marks a return to making Ice Age films.
The first movie on the list is Ice Age: Boiling Point, set for release on February 5, 2027. This will be followed by A New Hope, a re-release of the classic Star Wars film, on February 19. The new version will include an IMAX run and marks 50 years since the original release.
Pixar returns with Gatto on March 5, an original tale of a street-smart cat navigating Venice, Italy. Summer wraps up with The Bluey Movie on August 6, marking the franchise's transition from TV to big screen in 2D to CG animation. Another Fox-acquisition film, The New Simpsons Movie, is set for release on September 3.
The holiday corridor opens on November 24 with Frozen 3, which centers on Anna and Kristoff's wedding. This will be followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, the only Marvel Studios release of 2027.
