Disney Magic Kingdom Unveils Giant Expansion: Piston Peak and Villains Land Coming Soon
Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom is undergoing its largest expansion in 55 years. The project involves building two massive new areas, Piston Peak National Park and Villains Land, which will be visible from all over the park.
Piston Peak will feature two rides: Cars Ridge Run Rally, a thrill ride that simulates off-roading through mountainous terrain, and Miss Fritter's Daredevil Spin-Along, a family-friendly spinning ride inspired by the demolition derby school bus from Cars 3.
Villains Land will be dedicated to classic Disney antagonists, with two rides: Maleficent's roller coaster, set in the dark fairy's evil fortress, and a dark ride where the Magic Mirror conjures visions of iconic villains like Cruella De Vil, Ursula, Jafar, Scar, and Doctor Facilier.
Disney Imagineers have been conducting balloon tests to assess how the new structures will affect sight lines around the park. This process involves tethering balloons to the ground at various heights and observing where they are visible from other areas of the park.
