Disney Offers Voluntary Retirement Package to Senior Executives Amid Cost Reduction Efforts
The Walt Disney Company has launched a voluntary early retirement programme for senior US employees as part of its cost reduction efforts. The Voluntary Early Retirement Offer (VERO) is available to eligible employees from director through executive vice president levels across Disney Entertainment, ESPN and corporate functions.
To be eligible, employees must be at least 50 years old, have completed a minimum of 10 years with Disney and achieve at least 65 points when their age and years of service are combined. Those who opt into the programme will receive an enhanced exit package, including severance compensation, continued vesting of previously awarded company shares, medical coverage, and access to Disney theme parks.
The VERO is part of a broader effort to reduce operating expenses as Disney reviews its workforce and other areas of spending. The company has already begun involuntary workforce reductions in some parts of the business and expects this to continue into next year.
