Disney+ Orders Pilot for Theme Park-Inspired Series 'Spaceship Earth'
Disney+ is expanding its roster of theme park-inspired shows with a new series based on EPCOT's iconic 'Spaceship Earth' attraction. The streaming service has ordered a pilot for the show, which will be developed by 20th Television and produced by Jason Fuchs and Michael Waldron as executive producers.
The story follows a group of teenagers from different time periods who must join forces to save the world from an impending global catastrophe. This marks the latest effort by Disney+ to create original content based on its theme park attractions, following in the footsteps of 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' and other projects.
Lee Toland Krieger will direct the pilot episode, which is still in development stages. No release date or cast announcements have been made yet.
Roger's Take suggests that Disney+ is seeking new original shows for families, and 'Spaceship Earth' has a unique premise that could work if executed correctly.
