Disney+ Powers Up Electric Racing with Formula E Partnership
The world of Formula E racing is about to get a major boost as Disney+ has signed a multi-year deal to broadcast the championship's events. The agreement, which starts with the 2026/27 season, will bring comprehensive coverage to Disney+, including preview and review shows, practice, qualifying, and race sessions, along with highlights.
Formula E is one of the fastest-growing motorsport championships, spanning 21 rounds across 13 events in iconic cities worldwide. The new season kicks off on December 18th, 2026, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and will feature stops in Austin, Miami, Monaco, and Mexico City, culminating in the final round on July 25th, 2027, in Tokyo.
The GEN4 era marks a new chapter for motorsport with highly anticipated cars that deliver 600kW of power, equivalent to more than 815-horsepower. This is around 30% faster than an F1 car, and the new season will also introduce an enhanced race weekend format designed to create competitive on-track action.
Joe Earley, Co-President, Direct-to-Consumer, Disney Entertainment, said that Formula E combines world-class competition, groundbreaking technology, and sustainability in a unique way. Jeff Dodds, Chief Executive Officer, Formula E, added that this partnership will introduce the championship to millions of new fans while bringing them closer to the drama, innovation, and excitement of electric racing.
