Disney Prepares for Transportation Expansion at Magic Kingdom with New Ferry Boat

Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom is preparing for an expansion of its transportation options to accommodate the growing number of visitors. As part of this effort, a new ferry boat will be added in 2027, increasing the capacity of this mode by 33%. The new boat will be named the Meg Gilbert Crofton, after the Walt Disney World President from 2006 to 2013.

Construction is underway to expand the ferry dock outside Magic Kingdom, allowing for the additional boat. This expansion does not impact the existing water-based transportation methods available to guests. The current ferry boat dock will remain in place for rides to and from the Transportation & Ticket Center (TTC), as will the docks servicing the smaller watercraft for rides to and from nearby hotels.

The new ferry boat is expected to alleviate congestion during peak periods, making it easier for guests to access the park. With an influx of visitors on the way due to upcoming projects such as two new rides themed to Pixar's Cars and a huge Villains Land area, the existing transportation options would become strained if they remained unchanged.
