Disney Reopens Beloved Magic Kingdom Location Amid Ongoing Construction
The Walt Disney World Resort has been experiencing a series of closures and refurbishments at its Magic Kingdom theme park. To mitigate this, Disney has decided to reopen one of its most beloved locations, Big Top Souvenirs, in Storybook Circus. The shop has been closed since February 20, 2026, for a six-month refurbishment.
The reopening of Big Top Souvenirs comes at an interesting time, as the park is still undergoing major construction on its western side, where the former Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island area is being redeveloped for Piston Peak National Park. Additionally, Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress has been closed since July 6 for an extensive update.
The return of Big Top Souvenirs adds indoor retail and snack capacity to the park, which is particularly important as many areas remain inaccessible due to construction. The shop will be open on August 21, 2026, coinciding with a Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party night.
