Disney Reveals Ambitious Plans for Theme Parks
The D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event held at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, saw a packed panel presentation led by Neil Patrick Harris, revealing exciting additions and changes to Disney experiences.
Walt Disney World received the most announcements, with all four parks being represented. Magic Kingdom is set for multiple major expansions, EPCOT will see significant updates to two iconic attractions, Hollywood Studios is building an entirely new Monstropolis, and Animal Kingdom is starting its massive transformation.
Tropical Americas, a new 11-acre land replacing DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney's Animal Kingdom, will be themed as Pueblo Esperanza, a fictional town surrounded by Central and South American environments. The area will feature two major attractions: Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent and Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto.
The Indiana Jones attraction follows Indy as he explores an ancient Maya temple in search of a legendary creature, featuring a massive serpent and supernatural dangers. Harrison Ford's likeness will be used for the Audio-Animatronic Indiana Jones, marking the first Disney Parks attraction to feature his likeness.
