Disney Reveals Thrilling Details for 'Cars' Land at Magic Kingdom
The Walt Disney Company has unveiled the details of its highly anticipated 'Cars' themed land at the Magic Kingdom Park in Orlando, Florida. Dubbed Piston Peak National Park, this expansion is set to be the largest in the park's history and will feature two new rides: Ridge Run Rally and Miss Fritter's Daredevil Spinoff.
Ridge Run Rally, the centerpiece of the land, is a racing ride where each car competes for the fastest lap in the wilderness. Riders will experience a thrilling climb up a mountain, followed by a series of camelback humps and a bouncy road that will leave them swerving through a geyser field past Old Tankful.
Miss Fritter's Daredevil Spinoff is a flat ride targeting younger kids and features a massive animatronic school bus of the character from Cars 3. Unlike Ridge Run Rally, this ride seems to be inspired by Disney California Adventure's Mater's Junkyard Jamboree or Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters.
Piston Peak National Park is inspired by the Rocky Mountains and the American frontier, unlike Disney California Adventure's 'Cars'-themed land which is set in the desert landscape of the American Southwest. The expansion has sparked controversy due to the closure of classic attractions Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island, which have been part of Frontierland and Liberty Square since 1971.
