Disney Revives Abandoned Resort Location with Multi-Year Permit
Walt Disney World is planning to breathe new life into a largely neglected location at its Polynesian Village Resort. A permit filed for Tangaroa Terrace, a standalone building just minutes from Magic Kingdom, stretches through December 31, 2027.
The location has undergone several transformations since its inception as a buffet restaurant. In recent years, it served as a cast member break area but could potentially reopen to guests in some form. The Polynesian Village Resort continues to change with ongoing investments from Disney.
While the permit's specifics are unclear, the unusually long timeline suggests something more substantial than routine maintenance is planned for Tangaroa Terrace. A dedicated contractor and a notice of commencement have been filed, further fueling speculation about its future use.
