Disney Revives Robin Williams Classics in 4K
Walt Disney Home Entertainment has announced that it will release two classic Robin Williams films in 4K digital and Ultra HD Blu-ray formats on September 29. The titles are Dead Poets Society and Mrs. Doubtfire, both of which were box office hits in the late 1980s.
Dead Poets Society, directed by Peter Weir, was released in 1989 and earned Robin Williams an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. The film follows an unconventional English professor who uses poetry to inspire his students to seize the day.
Mrs. Doubtfire, directed by Chris Columbus, was also a major success, earning Robin Williams a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy. In this film, Williams transforms himself into the unforgettable Mrs. Euphegenia Doubtfire.
Both films will be available in 4K resolution, high dynamic range (HDR), wider color spectrum, and immersive audio. The digital releases will debut on platforms such as Amazon Prime Video and Fandango. The physical Ultra HD Blu-ray releases will feature new key art for both titles and collectible packaging.
