Disney Roars Back with Toy Story 5 Box Office Smash
The Walt Disney Company reported a strong third quarter, driven by the success of 'Toy Story 5' and increased attendance at its US theme parks. The movie topped $1 billion in global box office revenue, while domestic park operating income rose 27% year-over-year.
Disney's Experiences division, which includes its six global theme parks, cruise line, merchandise, and video game licensing, reported a 20% increase in operating income to $3.02 billion. Revenue totaled $9.97 billion, with domestic park attendance climbing 3% from the previous year.
The company's strong quarter was offset by continued weakness in international tourism, which has declined due to various factors including tariffs and immigration policies. Disney also announced a global short-form content sharing deal with TikTok, bringing Disney-focused fan-created content to the Disney+ app.
