Disney is expanding its streaming platform Disney+ beyond just movies and TV shows. According to Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer Hugh Johnston, the company's long-term vision for Disney+ is to create an integrated ecosystem where fans can interact with their favorite content in various ways.

The idea is to increase user engagement and retention by offering a range of experiences, including consumer products, theme parks, cruises, gaming, and more. This will make Disney+ a one-stop-shop for fans, blurring the lines between different membership options.

Disney has already experimented with this concept through its D23: Official Fan Club, which offers exclusive events, merchandise, and perks to members. The company is also exploring the addition of games to the platform, similar to Netflix.

The goal is to make Disney+ a membership-like service that provides users with a seamless experience across different touchpoints. This could lead to increased revenue for the company through subscription sales, advertising, and merchandise sales.
