The Walt Disney World Resort has confirmed its annual shutdown of the Disney Skyliner gondola system for refurbishment. The closure will take place from January 24 to February 2, 2028.

This is not a new phenomenon; the Skyliner has been closed in January before - in both 2026 and 2027 - for about a week each time. However, this year's closure will be longer than usual, lasting nine days instead of seven.

During the shutdown, guests staying at Disney's Art of Animation Resort, Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney's Pop Century Resort, and Disney's Riviera Resort will have to rely on complimentary buses for transportation. Those visiting EPCOT or Hollywood Studios may also experience delays due to the closure of the Skyliner station at International Gateway.
