Disney Star Wars: Bella Thorne and Zendaya's Childhood Competition

Bella Thorne opened up about her experience as a child star on Disney Channel's Shake It Up, where she and Zendaya were pitted against each other. In an interview with Call Her Daddy, Thorne said they were made to compete for spots and 'eat themselves alive' while the network had multiple projects.

Thorne, 28, appeared on Shake It Up from 2010 to 2013 opposite Zendaya's character Rocky Blue. The actress recalled how the pressures of the entertainment industry affected her personal relationships: 'You go back and we were 12! What's wrong with you? We are supposed to be best friends.'

Despite the competition, Thorne shared that she and Zendaya quickly reconciled after having a heartfelt conversation as teenagers. They snuck out of a live taping on Good Luck Charlie and 'hashed it out,' calling their conversation one of the most genuine girl-on-girl talks.
