Disney Stock Rises 1.2% on Global Pokémon Deal
The Walt Disney Company's stock rose 1.2% on Friday to close at $108.10, adding approximately $2.2 billion in market value.
Disney+ announced a global distribution agreement for two Pokémon series: 'Pokémon the Series: The Beginning' and 'Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch'd & Pichu.'
The latter is a new Aardman stop-motion production that will premiere exclusively on Disney+ in 2027.
Disney's quarterly streaming subscription revenue increased by 15% to $4.7 billion, while advertising revenue rose 3%.
Ayo Davis, President of Disney Kids & Family, described both series as 'powerful additions' to Disney XD and Disney+, highlighting their broad appeal to established audiences across international markets.
