Disney Stories Come Alive in Theme Parks
The documentary 'Disney Worldbuilders' is now streaming on Disney+, offering an exclusive look at how some of Disney's most iconic stories have come to life in its theme parks. Directed by Oscar- and Emmy-nominated filmmaker Leslie Iwerks, the film features a star-studded cast, including Bob Iger, James Cameron, Jon Favreau, Kevin Feige, Jennifer Lee, Pete Docter, Dave Filoni, Jared Bush, and Josh D'Amaro.
The documentary explores Disney's theme parks, attractions, technology, and environments through stunning cinematography and editing. One of the most striking moments is when Pete Docter walks through Disneyland's Adventureland, describing Pirates of the Caribbean as 'just such great storytelling.' He compares the Disney experience to a music box: 'You hear it, experience it, and then have the ability to rewind and play it again for the people in your life through the stories you tell.'
The film also delves into the emotional experiences of its creators. James Cameron discusses the impact of riding Avatar Flight of Passage at Disney's Animal Kingdom, saying that translating Pandora into a physical experience was 'a lot more challenging' than he anticipated.
