Disney Sued for Negligence in On-Set Sexual Abuse Case
Raquel Lee, a former child actress, has filed a lawsuit against Disney alleging negligence in an on-set sexual abuse case. The alleged assault occurred during production of The Poof Point, a 2001 Disney Channel original movie, when Lee was just 14 years old.
The complaint claims that a middle-aged male employee who worked with the cast and crew groomed and assaulted Lee in his hotel room and on a flight back to Los Angeles. The alleged perpetrator also made sexually explicit comments and jokes around minors, including Lee, while on set.
Lee's lawsuit asserts that Disney knew about the misconduct but failed to intervene. In fact, multiple Disney executives allegedly attacked her 'changed behavior and trauma response,' accusing her of being 'out of control' and needing Jesus.
The complaint also cites a pattern of predatory misconduct at the studio over decades. Lee is represented by prominent plaintiffs' employment and sexual-misconduct lawyer Doug Wigdor.
