Disney Sues FCC Over Alleged Political Interference
The Walt Disney Company and ABC network have filed a lawsuit against the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the US District Court for the District of Columbia. The suit alleges that the FCC, under the direction of Trump-appointed commissioner Brendan Carr, is attempting to coerce and retaliate against a network that refuses to bow to the administration's demands.
The complaint specifically targets ABC's 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' and 'The View' shows, which have aired monologues critical of President Trump and his administration. The FCC has also questioned whether these programs are 'bonafide news programs.'
Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro stated that the company will stand up to what it believes is journalistic integrity and will not be told how to run its business.
