Disney Sues FCC Over Alleged Retaliation Against ABC News
The Walt Disney Company and ABC have filed a lawsuit against President Donald Trump's Federal Communications Commission (FCC), alleging that the agency is waging a retaliatory campaign against them.
The lawsuit, which was filed on August 18 in U.S. District Court in Washington, seeks to block an early review of licenses for eight ABC-owned stations: WABC-TV, KABC-TV, WLS-TV, WPVI-TV, KTRK-TV, KGO-TV, WTVD-TV, and KFSN-TV.
The FCC had ordered Disney to file broadcast license renewals for these stations this year, which came amid the agency questioning whether The View was required to provide similar airtime for political opponents of different parties.
The lawsuit alleges that Trump's remarks about Jimmy Kimmel Live! host Jimmy Kimmel and the agency's ongoing probe into The View are part of a campaign against ABC for its editorial decisions and news coverage.
