Disney Takes Another Shot at Tomorrowland

Disney is revamping its Tomorrowland theme at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. The goal is to deliver on Walt Disney's original vision of a futuristic America that visitors would want to live in and be inspired by.

The current Tomorrowland is plagued with underutilized buildings and outdated attractions like the PeopleMover track, which closed in 1998 after being replaced by Rocket Rods. The new Tomorrowland will keep its history but introduce new attractions and more open spaces.

Imagineer Emily 'Emo' O'Brien said they want to honor the legacy of Walt Disney while evolving for new generations. The theme land's star attraction, Rocket to the Moon, was meant to simulate a round-trip lunar voyage in the near future.

The original Tomorrowland problem was that it couldn't keep up with rapid technological progress and advancements. Now, Disneyland faces a new challenge: how to present a realistic and inspiring near-future America.
