Disney Taps TikTok Creators for Short-Form Content on Disney+
The Walt Disney Company has partnered with TikTok to bring creator-made short-form content to its streaming service, Disney+. The deal, which is being described as a first-of-its-kind global agreement, will allow participating TikTok creators to use assets from Disney's extensive library of films and series to create short-form content featuring characters and stories from various franchises.
Under the partnership, selected creator videos will appear on both TikTok and Disney+’s Verts, giving Disney+ audiences another way to discover and engage with its franchises. The initiative reflects a wider shift in how entertainment brands are engaging with fandom, as rather than keeping storytelling within official brand channels, Disney and TikTok are giving creators a more active role in extending the life of films and shows through social content, fan conversations, and community participation.
Asad Ayaz, Chief Marketing and Brand Officer at The Walt Disney Company, said the collaboration creates a new connection between the stories Disney produces and the creativity they inspire among fans. Dawn Yang, Global Head of Entertainment at TikTok, added that creators help extend the life of films and shows by turning them into conversations that audiences can discover and share.
The partnership also includes a Disney Creator Ambassador Program, jointly run by Disney and TikTok, which will support selected creators through rewards, greater visibility, exclusive events, and career development opportunities. The program is designed to help identify and develop emerging creative talent, reinforcing the companies' focus on creators as an important part of the modern entertainment ecosystem.
