Disney Taps TikTok for Vertical Video Boost
The Walt Disney Company has announced a new partnership with TikTok that will bring more creator-made vertical videos to its streaming app, Disney+. The collaboration aims to increase engagement and reduce churn on the platform.
Under the terms of the agreement, TikTok creators who choose to participate will have access to assets from hundreds of Disney movies and television shows for use in short-form videos on both TikTok and the Verts vertical video feed on the Disney app. These videos can feature characters and stories from popular Disney brands such as Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, and FX.
The effort is set to begin in the coming months in the U.S., with additional markets following suit. The partnership is part of Disney's strategy to make its streaming platform the 'digital centerpiece' of the company.
