Disney Teams Up with Creator Economy Darling Dhar Mann Studios
Disney has partnered with Dhar Mann Studios to create original content for its platforms. The deal includes a 20-episode project, although details about the specific series are scarce. Dhar Mann Studios, led by YouTube creator and producer Dhar Mann, has gained popularity with over one billion views across platforms each month and more than 170 million followers.
Under the new agreement, Dhar Mann Studios will produce kids, tween, teen, and family programming for Disney's various channels. The company has traditionally focused on independently financed scripted content released on YouTube and other social media platforms but has recently expanded into traditional Hollywood production.
The deal marks a significant step in Disney's expansion of its focus on the creator economy and vertical video. Dhar Mann Studios' CEO, Sean Atkins (former MTV president), said the partnership gives them an opportunity to 'dream bigger' about their stories. Disney's chief marketing and brand officer, Asad Ayaz, described Dhar Mann as having a 'distinctive voice' and an enormous global following.
