Disney+ Teams Up with Pokémon for Stop-Motion Series
Disney+ and The Pokémon Company have announced a major deal to bring new and classic shows to fans worldwide. Starting in 2027, the stop-motion series 'Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch'd & Pichu' will stream exclusively on Disney+ and air on Disney XD worldwide.
The show, created by animation studio Aardman, follows Sirfetch'd and Pichu as they journey through the Galar region to protect Pokémon. While their missions rarely go as planned, their noble deeds build a friendship as they face challenges, rivalries, and laughs together.
Ayo Davis, president of Disney Kids & Family, said that 'Pokémon has that rare ability to mean something to longtime fans while continuing to feel completely relevant to young audiences today.'
The agreement also includes the animated series 'Pokémon the Series: The Beginning,' which began airing on Disney XD earlier this month and is now streaming on Disney+ in the U.S. and select international markets.
