Disney Teams Up with TikTok for Creator-Made Vertical Videos
The Walt Disney Company has formed a partnership with social media platform TikTok to create more creator-made vertical videos on Disney+. The deal will provide creators who choose to participate with access to hundreds of Disney movies and television shows, including assets from Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, and FX. These short-form videos can feature characters and stories from the Disney brands and will appear on both TikTok's social media platform and the Disney+ app's Verts vertical video feed.
The effort is set to begin in the coming months in the U.S., with additional markets following suit. This new collaboration comes as part of Disney's plan to boost engagement and reduce churn on its streaming platform, according to CEO Josh D'Amaro's vision for making Disney+ the 'digital centerpiece' of the company.
Disney Chief Marketing and Brand Officer Asad Ayaz stated that this partnership creates a 'new bridge between the stories we tell and the creativity they inspire.' This collaboration aims to give creators more opportunities to share their content, while also providing audiences with more options for discovery on Disney+ every day.
