Disney Teams with TikTok for Short-Form Video Deal
The Walt Disney Company has announced a partnership with TikTok to allow social media creators to make short-form videos based on Disney's brands, including Star Wars, Marvel, and Pixar.
The deal marks one of the biggest moves for Disney's new CEO, Josh D'Amaro, who assumed the role in March and is tasked with future-proofing the company.
Under the partnership, TikTok users will have access to Disney assets that can be uploaded and shared on both TikTok and Disney+. The feature will roll out in the United States in the 'coming months' and then expand to other countries.
D'Amaro said on a call with analysts Wednesday that the addition of short-form video 'creates a more complete experience' on Disney+ and ideally makes users stay longer and engage more, and should help them discover new shows.
