Disney Tunes Up Its Economic Impact with New 'Sounds of Disney' Ad
Disney has released a new advertisement called 'Sounds of Disney', which uses the distinctive sounds of its parks to highlight the cast members and local businesses that make the parks magical. The ad features a simple percussive version of the Steamboat Willie melody accompanied by various sounds from the parks, such as the clatter of beignets and train whistles.
The soundtrack is meant to represent the economic impact of Disney on the nation, including its support for over 403,000 jobs and the $67 billion it brings to the economy. According to Nicole Figueroa-Sierra, Associate Producer with Disney's internal creative agency Main Street, 'I wanted the ad to take viewers through a day at Disney, what that feels like, but also what that sounds like.'
Evelin Garcia, Music Supervisor for Main Street, helped capture the sounds guests hear in the parks every day. She said, 'We were looking for a song that would resonate whether you were visiting Walt Disney World or Disneyland. Steamboat Willie felt universal, and that iconic whistle is instantly recognizable to Disney fans.'
