Disney Unveils AI-Powered Vacation Planning Beta at Walt Disney World
Walt Disney World has launched a new vacation planning experience beta that aims to simplify the booking process for guests. The beta, developed in collaboration with Google Cloud, combines a redesigned booking flow with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide personalized recommendations.
The new experience allows guests to search across broader date ranges, compare resorts side by side, and see the best available rate. It also includes an optional AI feature that lets guests describe their interests in their own words, and the system returns short summaries explaining why a particular resort may fit those requests.
Disney emphasized that the beta is not replacing the existing resort and ticket search or its human planning resources. Instead, it's an additional path for guests who want more guidance, particularly those who know what kind of trip they want but don't yet know which resort, dates, or offer will best fit it.
The AI elements use Google Cloud technology, including Gemini Enterprise, while grounding their responses in Disney's own online and internal information. The company has added guardrails, evaluations, and ongoing monitoring to reduce inaccurate or inappropriate responses.
