Disney Unveils Ambitious Plans for Theme Parks at D23
Disney recently unveiled several new projects and updates at its theme parks during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. One of the most anticipated additions is Monstropolis in Hollywood Studios, which will feature a highly-anticipated 'door' coaster.
The coaster won't be ready when the land opens in 2027, but concept art gives fans a glimpse into what to expect. Other updates include an updated version of Carousel of Progress in Magic Kingdom and new details surrounding attractions in Piston Peak National Park, including Cars Ridge Run Rally and Miss Fritter's Daredevil Spin-Along.
Disney also announced that Spaceship Earth will be getting an update in EPCOT, with the Dreamfinder and Figment returning in a new journey to imagination. In Animal Kingdom, the Encanto area is taking shape, with Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto being the first Encanto-themed attraction without a height requirement.
International parks are also seeing significant changes, including Tokyo Disneyland's Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue, Space Mountain: Earthrise in Tomorrowland, and Shanghai Disney Resort's new Spider-Man-themed experience. Hong Kong Disneyland will feature an Avengers pavilion, while Disneyland Paris is getting a revamped Hyperspace Mountain.
