Disney+ Unveils Anime Series Based on Beloved Video Game Franchise
An anime series based on the popular video game franchise 'Kingdom Hearts' is in development for Disney+, according to Variety. The news was announced by actor Benjamin Bratt during the Disney Entertainment Showcase panel at D23 fan event.
The new series, which is being developed in partnership with Square Enix, will reimagine the iconic adventure and expand on the universe of 'Kingdom Hearts' while celebrating its beloved characters.
No additional details were given about the project, but a first-look image was revealed featuring protagonist Sora and his trusty Keyblade.
The 'Kingdom Hearts' franchise has sold over 39 million units worldwide since debuting in March 2002 for the PlayStation 2.
