Disney Unveils Array of New Projects Including Villains Land and Reimagined Space Mountain
Disney fans have been treated to a flurry of announcements at D23, including details on new rides and lands set to open in the coming years. One of the most highly-anticipated projects is Villains Land, which will bring the classic Disney villains to life in a dedicated area within Magic Kingdom.
The land's design is inspired by the foreboding woods from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, with 'guardian trees' that are being described as 'clay dimensional sketches' and 'early explorations.' These designs may yet change before the land's official opening, but they offer a glimpse into the immersive world that Imagineers have been working to create.
In addition to Villains Land, Disney is also expanding its offerings at Tokyo Disneyland with a reimagined Space Mountain. The new version of the classic indoor roller coaster will be titled Space Mountain: Earthrise and will open in 2027.
Other projects announced at D23 include an Encanto ride set to debut at Animal Kingdom, a Coco boat ride coming to Disney California Adventure, and a Monstropolis land based on Monsters, Inc. that will bring the monster world to life within Disney's Hollywood Studios.
