Disney Unveils Largest Expansion in History with New Attractions and Lands
Walt Disney World has unveiled its most extensive slate of new attractions and expansions in history. The company revealed the plans during its Disney Experiences showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, California.
The Magic Kingdom will feature Villains Land, a themed area comparable to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. The land's story begins with a corrupted Wishing Well spreading poisoned magic through the area, prompting villains like Cruella and the Evil Queen to set up their lairs.
Villains Land will include shopping, dining, and two attractions. One will be a Maleficent-inspired roller coaster through a mountaintop fortress and enchanted briars, while the other will be a dark ride hosted by the Magic Mirror featuring Disney villains.
The Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom is also getting an update, with four new decades added to its story along with a scene featuring Walt Disney's first Florida-based Audio-Animatronics figure. Jamie Lee Curtis and Bryan Cranston will voice Sarah and John in the attraction's central family characters.
