Disney Unveils New Indiana Jones Ride for Animal Kingdom's Tropical Americas Land
Disney's Animal Kingdom is getting a new land called Pueblo Esperanza, which will be themed around the Tropical Americas. The 11-acre area will include two signature attractions and a carousel, one of which is an Indiana Jones adventure ride.
The Indiana Jones ride, titled 'Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent', will follow the famous archaeologist as he explores a Maya temple in search of a mythical creature. The story takes place before the events of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and features Indy facing various dangers such as bats, scorpions, and flames.
The ride will replace the DINOSAUR attraction and is part of Disney's efforts to revamp its Animal Kingdom park. Harrison Ford, who played Indiana Jones in the movies, is the model for the next animatronic version of the character.
Pueblo Esperanza is set to open in 2027, with a new timeline shared by Disney for the project. The area will also feature a new story inspired by Encanto and will include two signature attractions and a carousel.
