Disney Unveils Plans for 'Asteria' Community in North Carolina

Disney has revealed new images of its planned community in Chatham County, North Carolina. The entryway to 'Asteria' will be inspired by both the local landscape and Disney's iconic movies. The design features a big, arched gateway made from quartz and dry-stack stonework using stone sourced from the site.

Asteria is set to include over 4,000 residential units and a community gathering space. Developers say the first residents should be able to move in by fall of 2028. The project will have a mix of single-family and multi-family homes, with some neighborhoods designated for adults 55 and older.

The Second Star Club is envisioned as the social centerpiece of the community, inspired by the celestial compass in Walt Disney Animation Studios' 1953 animated film 'Peter Pan'. At its center will be Aster Green, an expansive gathering lawn made for various activities. The club will also offer high-tech tools, a wellness center, adult-only pool, family-friendly pool, playground, and tennis and pickleball courts.
