Disney World Closures: 18 Changes Happening Right Now
Disney World is undergoing significant changes with 18 closures across various lands, rides, restaurants, shops, and hotels. At Magic Kingdom, the Carousel of Progress has been closed since July 6th for a major refurbishment to update its scenes and add a new Walt Disney animatronic. It's expected to reopen in 2027.
The Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island have permanently closed due to the construction of the Cars area, Piston Peak National Park. This new addition will feature two brand-new attractions and be themed like a National Park. The construction walls are already up in the area, and the old boat docks have been demolished.
At Disney's Hollywood Studios, Vacation Fun has closed for the second time this year on August 9th, with no reopening date announced. Meanwhile, Animation Courtyard is being transformed into Walt Disney Studios, featuring The Magic of Disney Animation and a new Drawn to Wonderland indoor play area.
EPCOT is also undergoing refurbishments, including La Signature store in the France Pavilion, which closed on June 30th for a refurbishment. Sections of the Germany Pavilion are currently closed due to bathroom and store renovations.
At Disney's Animal Kingdom, DinoLand, USA has been closed since February 2nd to make way for the Tropical Americas land, Pueblo Esperanza. The new land will feature three new rides and is expected to be completed soon.
