Disney World Cracks Down on Pool Hopping with Property-Wide Enforcement

Disney World has clamped down on unauthorized resort hopping by implementing a renewed, property-wide effort to enforce its long-standing 'no pool hopping' policy. Frontline staff at Disney's BoardWalk Resort have confirmed that Cast Members are actively scanning MagicBands and room keys to verify an active resort reservation before allowing guests onto the pool deck.

This strict access control directly impacts non-resort visitors trying to visit Leaping Horse Libations, the resort's quick-service pool bar. Because the bar sits inside the fenced perimeter of Luna Park Pool, Cast Members turned away visitors who were not registered resort guests, even if they only intended to purchase food or drinks.

This renewed push at hotel pools directly follows a major transportation update implemented at Disney Springs on June 28, 2026. Under those updated rules, guests attempting to board a Disney bus or Sassagoula River Cruise boat from Disney Springs to any Disney Resort hotel must show proof of an active Disney Resort hotel room reservation.

Disney's decision to strictly enforce its existing pool rules stems from operational realities and guest feedback, including deck overcrowding, safety limits, and protecting resort value. While wandering onto foreign pool decks is off the table, visitors can still legally do so by taking the Monorail, Skyliner, or park-to-resort buses from theme parks to explore hotel lobbies, grounds, and public dining spots without needing a hotel reservation.
