Disney World Faces Lawsuit Over Electric Scooter Injury
Walt Disney World Resort is facing a lawsuit from Deborah Montgomery and her husband Matthew after she was injured while driving an electric scooter, known as an ECV, in the queue for Under the Sea, Journey of The Little Mermaid at Magic Kingdom Park. On August 7, 2024, Deborah's foot became wedged in a crevice along the cave-like walls of the queue, causing her to suffer several injuries to her foot, ankle, and leg, including a fractured fibula.
According to the lawsuit, the Montgomerys claim that Disney World Resort failed to provide a safe means through the queue, inspect the pathways, provide warning signs, and provide sufficient lighting. Deborah's husband, Matthew, is also a plaintiff in the lawsuit, claiming he suffered losses due to his wife's injury.
The Montgomerys are seeking $50,000 in compensation for Deborah's medical expenses and Matthew's lost income while caring for her.
