Disney World Monorail Stranded by Lightning During Storm
A Walt Disney World monorail lost power on September 8th due to reported lightning during stormy weather. The train, traveling between the Transportation and Ticket Center and EPCOT, stopped along the elevated beam, stranding passengers for approximately 90 minutes.
Tanya, a passenger who documented the incident on social media, stated that lightning had knocked out power somewhere along the route. However, Disney did not confirm this in a public statement.
The power failure caused conditions inside the train to become uncomfortable due to disabled air conditioning. Passengers were instructed to remove window panels for ventilation during the delay. Disney provided each affected guest with a $50 gift card after they were able to exit.
