Disney World Raises Barrier to Entry for Holiday Fun

Walt Disney World has made some changes to its holiday offerings in 2026. While Christmas decorations and entertainment will still be available throughout the resort, many of the biggest holiday experiences now require guests to spend more money beyond their regular park admission.

Magic Kingdom's Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is a prime example. Tickets range from $189 to $229 per adult, depending on the night, and include exclusive holiday entertainment, character appearances, and treats. The party also includes events like Minnie's Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Show and Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade.

Disney's Hollywood Studios has also introduced its own paywall with Disney Jollywood Nights, which costs between $169 and $199 per person, plus tax. This event offers exclusive holiday entertainment, character encounters, themed venues, music, and lower waits for select attractions.

EPCOT is still a strong contender in the holiday season, as the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays runs from November 27 through December 30, 2026, and is included with regular park admission. However, guests may want to consider purchasing a Candlelight Processional Dining Package for guaranteed access to this show.

While Christmas at Disney World hasn't disappeared, it's clear that some of the biggest holiday experiences have been moved behind a paywall. This change affects families trying to maximize their Disney vacation and can be a significant additional expense.
