When traveling to Disney World, choosing the right airline can make all the difference in the start of your vacation. I've taken numerous flights to Orlando and learned that price shouldn't be the only factor when booking a flight. In fact, saving $75 on airfare may not feel so great if your vacation starts with a six-hour delay.
After years of flying into Orlando International Airport (MCO), there are certain airlines I'm more likely to book for a Disney World trip. Delta Air Lines is one of the top choices due to its reliability and in-flight experience, especially when traveling with kids. The airline offers seatback entertainment and Wi-Fi access, making it easier to keep tabs on plans while traveling.
Southwest Airlines is another option worth considering, although it's essential to pay closer attention to what you're buying. The airline has undergone changes, including moving away from its distinctive policies, which made it a great value for families. However, Southwest still offers a valuable Orlando network with multiple flight options, making it a good choice if something goes wrong.
JetBlue is an excellent option for those flying from the Northeast, particularly since Orlando is one of their focus cities. The airline provides a budget-friendly experience with in-flight entertainment, free Wi-Fi, and complimentary snacks and drinks. Plus, JetBlue offers more legroom in economy class among U.S. airlines.
When it comes to international travel, Virgin Atlantic is a top choice for flying from the UK. They operate direct flights from London Heathrow and Manchester to Orlando, making it an ideal option for those traveling across the Atlantic.
On the other hand, there are certain airlines I'm more cautious about booking. Frontier Airlines offers some of the best rates but charges for almost everything, including carry-on bags, checked bags, seat selection, drinks, snacks, and more. Allegiant Air is another airline to consider carefully before booking based on price alone.
