'Disney Worldbuilders': Behind-the-Scenes Look at Theme Park Magic
A new documentary titled 'Disney Worldbuilders' offers an inside look at how Disney movies are turned into immersive experiences at the company's theme parks. The documentary features interviews with filmmakers including James Cameron, Jon Favreau, Jennifer Lee, and Kevin Feige, who share their creative processes behind films like 'Frozen,' 'Avatar,' and 'The Avengers.'
According to Favreau, technology combined with a good piece of storytelling is essential in creating an immersive experience. The documentary also features former Disney CEO Bob Iger, Lucasfilm Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni, Walt Disney Animation Studios Chief Creative Officer Jared Bush, Pixar Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter, and current Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro.
The documentary is directed by Leslie Iwerks, whose father Ub Iwerks and grandfather Don Iwerks helped shape Disney storytelling. Iwerks wanted to understand what ignites the imaginations of the storytellers behind some of the world's most beloved stories. She discovered that they often traced their creative journeys back to a single childhood moment, walking through the gates of Disneyland and realizing that impossible dreams could become real.
'Disney Worldbuilders' is now streaming on Disney+, providing audiences with a unique perspective on how Disney movies come to life in its theme parks.
